The Buzz: Brees, Gibson, Connor, Allen

Saints quarterback Drew Brees drops back to pass during a game against the Cardinals.

DREW BREES / TAYSOM HILL – QBs/NO

Congratulations to Taysom Hill. He’s shown everyone that yes, he can play quarterback in the NFL. But the Saints’ legendary starting QB Drew Brees is healing up, and he’s eligible to come off the IR this week, and play Sunday against the Eagles. “Drew’s the guy and if he says he can go then he’s gonna go,” quarterback Taysom Hill told PFT after Sunday’s win over the Falcons. “I think I’m in a situation where I’ve got to prepare as if I’m gonna go in case he can’t.” – via ProFootballTalk

ANTONIO GIBSON – RB/WAS

If Plan A at running back for your playoff run involved Washington’s Antonio Gibson, it’s likely time to make sure Plan B is good to go. Gibson left Monday’s win over Pittsburgh after gaining 13 yards on his second carry with a foot injury. Reports say that Gibson is dealing with turf toe, and that injury doesn’t always heal quickly. – ESPN

JAMES CONNER – RB/PIT

Great news. Steelers’ running back James Conner has been activated from the COVID list. With Conner’s past medical history, this could be the best news of the week in the NFL. – SI.com

JOSH ALLEN – QB/BUF

Franchise quarterback? Sure. Elite quarterback? Looks like the Bills’ Josh Allen is on his way. His play against the 49ers on Monday has earned him some recognition. – ProFootballTalk
